About
Foundations Class 🐾
Our Foundations Class is designed for dogs who are ready to build stronger focus, confidence and everyday manners in a supportive group environment.
Using positive, reward-based training, we help owners develop clear communication with their dogs while working on practical skills that can be used at home, on walks and in busy real-life situations.
Each session includes a mixture of core obedience, loose-lead walking, recall, settle work, engagement exercises, scent games, confidence building and fun tricks. We also introduce controlled distractions so dogs can learn to listen and make better choices around other dogs and people.
This class is suitable for adolescent and adult dogs, as well as puppies who have already started learning the basics and are ready to progress.
We work on skills including:
Focus and voluntary check-ins
Sit, down, stand and stay
Loose-lead walking
Recall and responding around distractions
Settle and calm behaviour
Impulse control
Confidence in new situations
Scent work and enrichment
Fun tricks to keep training engaging
Calm behaviour around other dogs
Dogs do not need to interact directly during class. Instead, they learn to remain settled, focused and connected to their own handler while training around others. This helps build neutrality and makes everyday walks and outings easier.
Classes are held on Friday evenings at 7pm at Gosforth Residents Association and last approximately 45 minutes. Group sizes are kept small, with a maximum of five dogs, allowing plenty of individual guidance.
Single classes are available from £22.50. A recurring membership is £75 every four weeks and guarantees your weekly place. Flexible plans are also available from £80 for four sessions.
